ABSTRACT
Gut helminth parasites of fish cause a lot of harm to the gastrointestinal tract and so reducing the economic benefit of fishing industries and aquaculture. This study was undertaken to survey the gut helminth parasites of Clariasgariepinus and Oreochromisniloticus, rate of helminth parasites infection and find out the significant difference between helminth parasites infection to length and weight of fishes at the Ibi fishing site of River Benue. One hundred fishes were sampled at River Benue at Ibi fishing site from fishermen operating with different fishing gears, comprising of 60 C.
gariepinus and 40 O. niloticus in dry and wet seasons of the year 2016. The two fish species were transported in cool ice plastic containers for microscopic examination of gut helminth parasites.
