ABSRTACT

This paper focuses on leadership considering the fact that human beings are complex, and they exert significant influence on organization performance. Therefore, there is every need to direct their actions in the organization. Leadership is processes by which people exerts influence over other people and inspires, motivates, and direct their activities to help achieve group or organizational goals. Based on the findings of this write-up, the some recommendations were made. These include: To be a great leader,you lead by example, that is to be a living example of your leadership philosophy; build relationship of trust through your character and competence and you should also extend trust to others; you should learn to learn from others, learn from your

experiences, learn to withstand challenges and embrace changing times by deeply

rooting yourself in the principles of great leadership; as a leader, you should adopt

and employ good communication system; communicate the vision animates, motivate

and inspires followers; and also involve people in the communication process to create

the goals to be achieved as it enhances employees commitment to work; as a leader

you need to empathize with your worker emotion and their situation and also

compassionate in the way you lead; do not challenge workers who they are as a

person rather challenge the job that they did and show them that they are capable of

doing it more especially when got it wrong; and learn to communicate hard truths and

help people to cope with the realities of change and life.

INTRODUCTION

What life will be like if you become a leader, one could think it is a difficult task only those that are born with leadership charisma would make it. You May not be wrong either correct considering the fact that groups and teams are major feature of organizational life which are characterized by rapid and constant changes. Indeed, knowing fully that work organization and its sub-units are made of people, most of the activities in an organization require at least some degree of coordination through the operation of groups and team work if all organization needs to succeed. Therefore, it is worthy of note that the understanding of the nature of groups/people at work in the organizations becomes necessary if leaders want to influence the behavior of the people in the work situation. This is why Mullins (2007) suggested that a manager must be aware of the impact of groups and teams and their effects on organizational performance. Read more>>>

A SURVEY OF THE AWARENESS OF VACCINATING LOCAL CHICKENS ( Gallus domesticus) WITHIN THE CENTRAL ZONE OF PLATEAU STATE Biyal, D.H., Deshi, M.B; and Gochuk, Z.D. Plateau State College of Agriculture, Garkawa, Plateau State, Nigeria ABSTRACT The research was conducted to access the level of awareness and use of vaccines on local chickens (Gallus domesticus) within the central zone of Plateau State. Five (5) districts were randomly selected, one from each of the five LGA’s that make up the central zone of Plateau State. 400 questionnaires were distributed, filled and retrieved from the 5 LGAs, each with 80. The data was analyzed using simple percentage. Result showed that 177 (44.25%) of the respondents were poor subsistent farmers and civil servants make up only 80 (20.00%) that raise local chickens. It was argued that the Port Harcourt Aviation was supposed to be a blessing to the indigene and inhabitants of the areas; rather it became more of a resource curse. Rather than enhancing the living condition of the people, it had transformed the socio-economic, political and cultural lives of the Omagwe communities into a state of abject poverty.
