ABSTRACT

This paper focused on the influence of human resource management practice on

organization proficiency. Employees’ willingness and desires to be productive and

efficient to be able to contribute and ensure continued profitability should be

encouraged and pursued by managers. They should know that it is their


responsibility to know their human resource need, acquire, develop, protect and

utilize them in such a way that organization’s efficiency and effectiveness in

operations are ensured. Human Resource Management represents all activities that

managers engage in to attract and retain employees to ensure that they perform at

a high level and also contribute to the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Employment and training and retraining of employees should not be done on rational

and economic bases. Equally, adequate communication system should be adopted

and employed at all times. Employees too should be provided with unity of direction,

a sense of shared expectations, shared feelings and attitudes, shared ideas and

experience/knowledge, coordinated and integrated activities and appropriate job

satisfaction. Based on the findings of the study few recommendations were made.

Amongst are: Management should at all times know the human resource needs of

their organization and be able to acquire, develop, protect and economically utilize

them; employ appropriate and consistent communication system; management

should involve its employees in decision- making process; and management should

adopt appropriate human resource management practice.

INTRODUCTION

One of the most important resources of all organization is the people. People are involved

in the production and distribution of goods and services. However, considering the complexity of

human being and their influence on business success, a study on Human Resource Management

Practice becomes imperative. It is a considered opinion that to provide employees with freedom

and flexibility at work at utmost efficiency that can ensure company’s continued survival and

profitability is necessary and however is supposed to be managers’ role which obviously mandates

A SURVEY OF THE AWARENESS OF VACCINATING LOCAL CHICKENS ( Gallus domesticus) WITHIN THE CENTRAL ZONE OF PLATEAU STATE Biyal, D.H., Deshi, M.B; and Gochuk, Z.D. Plateau State College of Agriculture, Garkawa, Plateau State, Nigeria ABSTRACT The research was conducted to access the level of awareness and use of vaccines on local chickens (Gallus domesticus) within the central zone of Plateau State. Five (5) districts were randomly selected, one from each of the five LGA’s that make up the central zone of Plateau State. 400 questionnaires were distributed, filled and retrieved from the 5 LGAs, each with 80. The data was analyzed using simple percentage. Result showed that 177 (44.25%) of the respondents were poor subsistent farmers and civil servants make up only 80 (20.00%) that raise local chickens. It was argued that the Port Harcourt Aviation was supposed to be a blessing to the indigene and inhabitants of the areas; rather it became more of a resource curse. Rather than enhancing the living condition of the people, it had transformed the socio-economic, political and cultural lives of the Omagwe communities into a state of abject poverty.
