INTRODUCTION
Social media is a new global phenomenon that is used by all and sundry, especially adolescents, the world over. Thus, any website that allows social interaction is considered a social media site, including social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter; gaming sites and virtual worlds such as Club Penguin, Second Life, and the Sims; video sites such as YouTube; and blogs (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2011). With regard to the incessant use of social media, its sites have developed a ‘genius faced’ influence on adolescents either in a positive or negative way. For positive influence, social networking site helps individual to share connections, views, thoughts with strangers (unknown friends) or enable them to share their view points with visible well known friends (Chowdhury and Saha, 2015).
