ABSTRACT
The microbial load of an aquatic systemrefer to the total number of microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, fungi, algae and protozoans) in a given aquatic system. Aquatic microorganisms are capable of multiplying in all water habitats, stretching from several kilometers below the sea floor to the first millimeter of a shallow trend created by rain water and into acidic lakes Their presence everywhere impact the entire biosphere as they are the main producers of energy and carbon flow to other organisms. Planktonic algae and cyanobacteria are responsible for about half of the food production on earth and serve as food for marine organisms especially fish.Aquatic microbes are involved in biogeochemical cycles such as Nitrogen and Phosphorus cycles in the aquatic systems.
Phytoplankton contributes to the biological pump through which atmospheric carbon (iv) oxide is transferred to the deep ocean and is kept in sediments thereby reducing global warming.Fungi are important in the decay of aquatic plant materialsand the exoskeleton of insect (chitin).  Alginic acid from brown algae is used for gelling food while algae based biofuel may replace fossil fuel by the year 2025. Protozoans are bio-indicators of the aquatic system. Aquatic microbes also cause a lot

of diseases to aquatic organisms as well as man. The greenish discolouration of halibut is caused by some bacteria, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Flavobacterium marinum, F. fucalum and Actinobacter pellicidam. Saprophytic bacteria like Pseudomonas and Clostridium promotes decomposition of shell fish.  Anthropogenic activities and biological interaction of predator-prey relationship between aquatic organiss,, bio-agents and chemical control are known to influence microbial load of aquatic systems. It can therefore be concluded that delibrate policies should be made to enforce rules and regulation that will prevent the release of pollutants and nutrients into our aquatic systems and energy flow within the food web or food chain of the aquatic system, normally regulate the microbial load of the system.

A SURVEY OF THE AWARENESS OF VACCINATING LOCAL CHICKENS (Gallus domesticus) WITHIN THE CENTRAL ZONE OF PLATEAU STATE

A SURVEY OF THE AWARENESS OF VACCINATING LOCAL CHICKENS ( Gallus domesticus) WITHIN THE CENTRAL ZONE OF PLATEAU STATE Biyal, D.H., Deshi, M.B; and Gochuk, Z.D. Plateau State College of Agriculture, Garkawa, Plateau State, Nigeria ABSTRACT The research was conducted to access the level of awareness and use of vaccines on local chickens (Gallus domesticus) within the central zone of Plateau State. Five (5) districts were randomly selected, one from each of the five LGA’s that make up the central zone of Plateau State. 400 questionnaires were distributed, filled and retrieved from the 5 LGAs, each with 80. The data was analyzed using simple percentage. Result showed that 177 (44.25%) of the respondents were poor subsistent farmers and civil servants make up only 80 (20.00%) that raise local chickens. One hundred and seventy nine, 179 (44.75%) of the respondents have been into it between 11 – 20 years, and those over 20 years were only 84% (21.00%). Only 84 (21.00%) out of t...

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AS CORRELATE OF ACHIEVEMENT IN MATHEMATICS IN LANGTANG NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMANT OF PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AS CORRELATE OF ACHIEVEMENT IN MATHEMATICS IN LANGTANG NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMANT OF PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA Ajoro, M.D. and Mbwas, C.D. Department of Basic studies,  Plateau State College of Agriculture, Garkawa, Plateau State, Nigeria ABSTRACT The research design was correlational survey carried out to investigate the correlation between senior secondary two (SS2) students achievement in English Language and their achievement in Mathematics in Langtang North Local Government area of Plateau State. The study made use of 398 students from 7 schools of the 17 schools using systematic sampling technique. Two research questions were asked and 2 null hypotheses were made. Literature was reviewed and achievement test in English Language and Mathematics were conducted. Reliability coefficients of 0.99 for English language achievement test and 0.98 for Mathematics achievement were obtained using Kuder Richardson KR 21 analysis from th...

CHINA- PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR (CPEC), ITS IMPACTS ON PAKISTAN ECONOMY

CHINA- PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR (CPEC), ITS IMPACTS ON PAKISTAN ECONOMY Sutinder Singh and John Mohd Magray GDC, Bijbehare Anantnag India, GDC, Pulwama, India Email: singh.john@ymail.co.uk ABSTRACT China is opening up its land borders in Xinjiang to interact more freely with central Asia and Europe. China and Pakistan are jointly building the china- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India views this is as violation of its sovereignty. Geopolitics rather than geo-economics predominates India’s thinking on possibilities offered by the revival of the old Silk Road by the Chinese. The CPEC project has been divided into phases, the first phase being the completion of Gwadar International Airport and major developments of Gwadar Port. This phase is expected to be completed by the year 2017. The project also includes the expansion of Karakoram Highway- the road that connects China with Pakistan and placement of fiber-optic line ...
